The Story of My Skin and Belief

Have you noticed that when your skin is glowing, you feel more confident? When you’re in physical pain, your skin doesn’t look its best. And when you’re stressed, your complexion turns dull or lifeless.
These are just a few examples — but they show us clearly that the skin, body, and mind are deeply connected.
My Journey as an Esthetician
I’ve given over 8,000 facials in the past 15 years, caring for people’s skin through many different conditions. But even with that experience, I stay humble. Because I’ve learned that skincare isn’t only about technique or products. It also requires an intentional daily approach that supports healing and healthy skin long-term.
That’s why I fell in love with aromatherapy and became a certified aromatherapist.
My Unforgettable Experience
One day, I ran out of cleanser. My usual replacement wasn’t in stock, so I grabbed another product from the same brand, thinking it wouldn't be a big deal. At the same time, I was stressed, exhausted, and careless about my skincare routine while adjusting to my new dream job as an esthetician.
Six months later, I was dealing with breakouts and cystic acne that covered almost my entire face. Before becoming an esthetician, I often ordered package deals online to save shipping fees. When one product ran out, I’d replace it with whatever was available at the pharmacy. But this time, the breakouts shook me.
I felt embarrassed as a skincare specialist who couldn’t manage her own skin. I worried clients would notice. My confidence sank, and I avoided social activities, only going out for work and errands.
I even asked my manager for time off, but instead she suggested I wear a mask during treatments. Surprisingly, it helped reduce my anxiety around clients.
Dermatologists prescribed medications, but they didn’t help. Facials were too harsh for my inflamed skin. My coworkers constantly asked what was happening, which made me feel worse.
I researched, experimented, and tried everything, but nothing seemed to work. Finally, I shifted my focus: instead of obsessing over the breakouts, I started paying attention to the areas that were healing.
When I looked at the healthy parts of my skin, I felt gratitude. I realized that I had been treating my skin like an enemy, instead of part of myself.
What I Learned
Imagine someone constantly pointing out your flaws, demanding more, and expecting quick results. It’s overwhelming and stressful. That’s exactly what I had been doing to my skin. And stress itself slows down healing.
This experience changed me. It taught me that skincare is more than products — it’s a practice of self-care and compassion.
What I Believe
Skincare is often underestimated in society. However, my journey has convinced me that skincare and self-care are equally vital, and they have a direct impact on each other.
When we treat our skin with patience, gratitude, and proper support, it not only transforms our complexion but also our overall well-being.
So I’ll leave you with this question:
Do you love your current daily skincare? ✨
I’d love to hear from you!
Stay safe and kind to yourself.
