It’s the last month of 2020.
How many of you have followed through on what you planned?
If you did—bravo!
If not, I’m with you.
It may be too soon to sum up the year, but for me, 2020 has definitely been hectic and full of learning. I often felt frustrated by the gap between my perspective and reality. Was it COVID? Or just me? I constantly struggled to prioritize, to start, to finish, and to avoid being overwhelmed. At times, I ended up with too many loose ends and very little closure.
My 2021 Resolution Mantra: Organize and Discipline
I’m naturally good at organizing things (well, at least my stuff! 😅), but I know I need better discipline. For me, that means:
Organize my tasks and set reminders for them.
Set alarms to remind myself how long to focus, when to move on, and to conserve my energy when my brain starts to slow down.
Be flexible. If I hit snooze, it’s okay—as long as I stay aware and don’t overcommit to one task.
I also remind myself: I don’t compare myself to others. My goal is to do my personal best and to stay compassionate toward myself. Even when I struggle, I can still take pride in trying.
Grounding Through Aromatherapy
Lately, I’ve noticed that my state of mind has been ungrounded, feeling like I'm floating, anxious, and overwhelmed. To soothe my soul, I created an emotional support synergy and made a personal inhaler with these essential oils:
Frankincense
Patchouli
Sweet Orange
To use it, I simply inhale deeply through the nose and exhale slowly through the mouth. I repeat this a few times for meditation—or whenever I need a reset during the day.
I hope these thoughts and this simple ritual inspire you to find your own grounding practices. May your 2021 be bright, warm, and full of balance.
Stay healthy and safe.
