Hi! I can’t believe it’s already the third month of 2022. How’s everything going with you?

I’ve just recovered from a hectic tax season, but soon after, I was hit with seasonal allergy symptoms. Ugh.

Luckily, I now know how to minimize those symptoms with aromatherapy! (I even hang a personal inhaler around my neck. LOL.)

My First Allergy Experience

I still remember my first seasonal allergy attack about 10 years ago. Out of nowhere, I developed a runny nose that wouldn’t stop for two straight days.

I asked a pharmacist, who suggested Benadryl. But it only knocked me out without relieving my symptoms. My nose became irritated and raw from constant blowing — I even ended up with tissues stuffed in my nostrils (true story!).

Feeling hopeless, I turned to Google and found a “holistic remedy.” That’s when I discovered that lavender essential oil is often referred to as nature’s antihistamine.

By chance, I had a bottle of lavender oil in my cabinet. I put some on a Q-tip, carefully applied it around my nose (holding my breath to avoid inhaling directly at that moment), and rubbed gently.

To my surprise, my runny nose stopped almost instantly! The lavender oil dried out the mucus without over-drying.

This incident wasn’t just relief — it was life-changing. It’s what inspired me to truly enter the world of aromatherapy.

Seasonal Allergy Remedy Recipe

This natural approach isn’t a 100% guarantee for everyone, but it’s become my go-to. In fact, I even use it when visiting my sister’s cat — I love him, but my body can’t handle the dander without this inhaler.

Here’s the recipe I make every year:

Personal Inhaler Blend for Seasonal Allergy Relief

  • Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) — 4–5 drops

  • Peppermint (Mentha × piperita) — 4–5 drops

  • Lemon (Citrus limon) — 4–5 drops

Directions:

  1. Add the oils to a small glass bowl.

  2. Soak a cotton pad or inhaler wick (organic is even better).

  3. Insert into a personal inhaler, or simply keep in the bowl and sniff as needed.

This simple aromatic remedy continues to support me through allergy season — naturally and effectively.

Happy aromatic self-care!
