I can sense a change in my skin condition not drastically, but enough that it’s probably time to re-evaluate my skincare routine.

First, I always recommend using a gentle cleanser for about one minute, then rinsing with warm water. Your skin shouldn’t feel tight afterward — that’s how you know it’s a good fit. A gentle cleanser can often be used all year round (though not forever, since your skin evolves).

Here’s another golden rule: if you can’t smile after cleansing, your product is too harsh.

Why the Wrong Cleanser Causes Trouble

Our skin naturally produces its own oil and hydration. Many people think they have oily skin, but in reality, their skin is often just dehydrated.

  • When you use a harsh cleanser or rinse with hot water, your skin responds by producing excess oil instead of moisture.

  • This makes your skin feel tight, so you apply extra moisturizer. Within 10 minutes, the oil and moisturizer combine, leaving your skin shiny and your pores clogged.

  • If your skin can no longer produce enough oil to compensate, it becomes dry, sensitive, and prone to wrinkles.

Adjust with the Seasons

When your skin responds differently to a cleanser — whether from seasonal changes or hormonal shifts — simply switch to another cleanser that suits the moment. You are the boss. Adjusting to your skin’s needs keeps it balanced and happy.

Keep it simple, stay gentle, and you can make your skin happy. ✨

Stay healthy.
