Baby, You Stink: A Chemical-Free Deodorant Spray

Spring is finally here, and with it come warmer days. But let’s be honest — do you ever think about what’s in your deodorant?

Years ago, I noticed my armpits turning dark brown. At first, I blamed fabric irritation, but eventually realized it was the deodorant itself — packed with chemicals and synthetic fragrances. After I stopped using it, my skin slowly returned to normal… but it took nearly a year.

That experience led me to live deodorant-free for a while, until I began diving into aromatherapy and crafting chemical-free products. That’s when my boyfriend (who has a knack for naming things!) came up with this cheeky name for my natural deodorant: “Baby, You Stink.”

Why a Spray Instead of a Roller?

While the original version used a roller, I’ve found that sprays are much easier to use — they’re quick-drying, simple to apply, and less messy. Plus, they feel refreshing, especially in warm weather.

DIY Deodorant Spray Recipe

Container: 2 oz spray bottle

Ingredients:

2 TBSP + 2 tsp Witch Hazel
1 TBSP + 1 tsp Aloe Vera Gel
⅛ tsp Arrowroot Powder
18 drops Essential Oils (see below)

Essential Oil Options:

Disinfectant Oils: Lemon, Tea Tree, Peppermint
Deodorant Oils: Lavender, Clary Sage, Geranium, Eucalyptus

How to Make:

Mix the Witch Hazel and Arrowroot Powder first, ensuring the powder is fully dissolved.
Add Aloe Vera Gel and essential oils, then stir or shake well.
Pour into your spray bottle.
Shake before each use and apply to clean armpits.

Tip: Wipe your underarms before spraying for best results. ✨
