Celebrating My Journey: 25 Years Since Coming to the U.S.

September always holds a special place in my heart. On September 24, 1999, I stepped off a plane in New York with just one English word I could confidently say: my name. My listening skills were poor, and my communication was limited. Looking back, I still can’t believe I made it through those first months.

But sometimes ignorance is a blessing. If I had truly understood how limited my English was, I might have been too afraid to make such a bold move. Instead, I followed my heart, and here I am — still carrying my accent, but able to express myself, connect deeply, and share my feelings with you.

Five years later, on the very same date — September 24th — I received my green card. That’s why “24” has become my magic number. It represents courage, growth, and transformation.

Life has taught me that wisdom comes with age, but sometimes a little ignorance helps us break through barriers we never thought possible. The same goes for skincare and self-care: it’s about taking steps forward, even if you don’t have everything figured out perfectly. You learn, you grow, and you nurture yourself along the way.

So, this September, I’m celebrating not just my journey but also the resilience we all carry. Whether it’s facing a new challenge, starting a new ritual, or embracing a fresh chapter, I hope my story reminds you that even the smallest steps can lead to incredible transformations.
