How’s your quarantined life going so far?
Since staying home regularly, I’ve been focusing more on self-care—and one ritual I’ve returned to is sipping on Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) water.
The first time I tried ACV was about six years ago, after a friend gave me a book called Vim & Vinegar by Melody Moore.
The book explained that when potassium levels in the body decrease, it can cause fatigue, lack of vitality, irritability, and even exhaustion after a full night’s sleep.
At that time, I was experiencing exactly those symptoms.
So, I decided to try drinking ACV first thing in the morning. Within a week, I noticed changes: I felt more energized, less tired upon waking, and less grumpy. Over time, I adjusted the dilution ratio (the original recipe was too sweet for me), but I kept up the habit for nearly three years.
Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar has been associated with a wide range of wellness benefits, including:
Supporting digestion and easing acid reflux
Helping to lower blood pressure
Assisting in blood sugar balance and diabetes support
Aiding healthy weight management
Acting as a source of hydration by helping the body retain water
It also contains healing compounds such as acetic acid, potassium, magnesium, probiotics, and enzymes.
How Much is Too Much?
While ACV is powerful, moderation is key. Most sources recommend no more than 2 tablespoons per day. Even with natural remedies, too much is too much. I’ve always followed this advice.
My Current Ritual
My favorite ACV brand is the one in the picture above. When I first moved, I couldn’t find it locally and stopped drinking it for a while. About a year ago, I realized I could simply order it from Amazon—and my ritual began again.
After my surgery seven weeks ago, hydration became especially important. To support recovery, I started drinking two Mason jars of water daily (about 64 oz total), with 1 tablespoon of ACV added in. It’s a simple habit that makes a difference.
Do you have a wellness ritual that surprised you with unexpected benefits? I’d love to hear what’s been helping you lately.
